00:01:53 Shabbat Candle Lighting

This past week we learned the devastating news that Omer Neutra z”l, an Israeli-American soldier from Long Island who was thought to be a hostage captured by Hamas, has been confirmed dead in Gaza. Neutra's body was taken into Gaza, where it is still being held by Hamas. His parents, Orna and Ronen, asked that women light Shabbat candles to honor Omer’s memory and “bring light into the world as the light of Omer’s beautiful soul has been extinguished.” Congregation Ahavat Olam honored their request and lit the Shabbat candles in his memory. We also included two additional candles for the 100 hostages still in Gaza who are unable to light the Shabbat candles with their families. May the memory of Omer forever be a blessing.
